Entenwerder 1 sits in the Entenwerder Elbpark in Rothenburgsort, which sounds like it’s far from everything but is actually about ten minutes from HafenCity by bike. The café itself is on a floating pontoon on the Elbe, which means it moves slightly when you walk, the views are wide and watery, and children find the whole thing considerably more interesting than a normal café visit.
The park around it does a lot of the work. There’s enough open space, grass and riverside path to let children run themselves into a state of calm while you sit with a coffee and pretend you’re on holiday. The Elbpiraten e.V., a children’s sailing club, is based on the same site and occasionally puts small boats in the water within view, which is free entertainment for anyone under ten.
The café menu covers coffee done properly, homemade cakes, and simple food. No separate children’s menu but portions are easy to share. No reservations and no table service — you order, you find a spot, you watch a ship go by. Dogs are welcome, which adds to the general loose, easygoing atmosphere.
It’s a warm-weather destination more than a year-round one. The official base hours are 10:00-19:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00-18:00 Sunday, with extended hours from June onwards. Check the website or Instagram before a winter visit.
