Got a young tech-head at home?
On Friday 27 June 2025 at 15:00, the Volksdorf branch of Hamburg’s public libraries is hosting a hands-on “LEGO Robots – Build and Program” workshop as part of Digital Day. Kids start with a beginner model to learn the LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 system, then move on to tweak existing designs or dream up their own machines. A tablet with the drag-and-drop coding app and the full LEGO kit are provided on site, so you can leave the brick box at home.
Why it’s worth your Friday afternoon
Building a robot out of LEGO bricks is fun; making it move with your own code is pure kid wizardry. The session sneaks in engineering basics, logical thinking and teamwork without feeling like homework. Plus, the Bücherhalle crew keeps the vibe relaxed, so first-time coders won’t feel lost.
How to register
Pop into the Volksdorf branch or call their front desk. The library staff handle the sign-ups and can confirm whether any last-minute spots are open. If your child is hooked afterward, ask about the library’s regular STEM clubs and robot kits you can borrow at home.
A free workshop that burns creative energy and sparks a love of coding? Count it as a parenting win for the start of summer break.
