Tell Us About a Successful Family Trip You Planned
I recently planned a multi-stop holiday to Costa Rica for a family of five, including two primary school-aged children and a teenager. Each of the children had quite different interests, so it was important to create an itinerary that worked for everyone.
The family wanted child-friendly accommodation and were keen to experience driving themselves, but felt unsure about how practical that would be. They had a good budget, but after receiving a very high quote from a high street travel agent, they initially tried to plan the trip themselves and quickly found it overwhelming.
I worked closely with them to design a route that balanced everyone’s preferences, advising on where a self-drive would work well and where alternative transport would be a better option. I also guided them on which areas to avoid at that time of year and sourced accommodation that was both suitable for the family and good value.
In the end, the trip came in at around two-thirds of the original quote, while being far better tailored to their needs — simply by taking the time to really understand what would work best for them.
